CLEVELAND, OHIO – Hamilton Bulldogs forward Nick Tarnasky notched two third period goals to get his club to overtime, but Lake Erie Monsters forwards Mike Sgarbossa, Bryan Lerg and Joey Hishon scored in the shootout to lift Lake Erie (3-3-0-0) past Hamilton (1-0-0-2) 3-2 on Friday night at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio.

Lake Erie forward Brad Malone paced the Monsters with two goals, his third and fourth of the season.

Malone was credited with the first goal of the night at 18:15 of the first period when he fired the puck to the front of the Bulldogs net from the corner and it bounced in off Hamilton defenceman Magnus Nygren. Assists were credited to defenceman Karl Stollery and Hishon.

Malone struck again at 7:02 of the second period, this time short handed, when he ripped a wrist shot past Bulldogs goaltender Dustin Tokarski, unassisted.

The Bulldogs managed just nine shots on goal through the first two periods, but stormed back in the third, outshooting the Monsters 14-4 in the final frame.

Tarnasky drew Hamilton to within one at 4:51 of the third, with assists to forwards Gabriel Dumont and Joonas Nattinen. Less than four minutes later, Tarnasky tipped home a Magnus Nygren point shot to tie the game 2-2, with assists going to Nygren and Dumont.
