AK setting the stage for his departure

A day after the coaches ripped Scott Gomez for lacklustre effort in practice, Andrei Kostitsyn lashed out in the media for the first time during his stay in Montreal (at least in the Montreal press).

Commenting on his lack of ice time, AK46 opened the door to playing elsewhere, saying he wants to play here, but if he is not going to see the ice, he would be open to finishing the season in another market.

A talented player that never lived up to the promise he showed as a youngerster, AK has always been compared to the players taken after him in the 2003 NHL draft, notably Ryan Getzlaf, Mike Richards, and Jeff Carter. Kostitsyn has been bounced from line to line over the last 3 years, and might benefit from a change of scenery. Unfortunately for the Habs, his value continues to plummet, and this 10th overall pick might only get a 3rd or 4th round selection on the trade market.
