HabsWildMatch Up:

The Canadiens (10-9-2) play host to the red hot Minnesota Wild (13-4-4) Tuesday night. The game is set to start at 7:30 and airs on RDS.

This is the second and final meeting between the Habs and Wild. When these two teams met in Minnesota at the beginning of November, Jason Pominville scored twice including the game winner with under six minutes remaining in the third period to put the Wild up 4-3. For the Habs, Andrei Markov had assists on all three Montreal goals and PK Subban had a goal and an assist.

What to Watch:

Carey Price put in a 33 save performance Saturday night, allowing just one goal against at the end of a 5-on-3 short handed situation, but that wasn’t enough to earn his team a victory. Price has allowed 2 or fewer goals in 7 of his last 9 starts, but only has 3 wins to show during that span.

Since beating the Canadiens on November 1, the Wild have not lost a game in regulation, going 7-0-1 so far this month. Josh Harding’s streak stretches even farther, he’s brought the Wild at least one point his last 11 starts, with a 9-0-2 record since mid-October.

What’s at Stake:

The Habs sit one game above .500 and have a tenuous hold on the second of two wild card playoff spots in the East. They’ll be trying to snap the Wild’s 4-game win streak Tuesday night and earn a bit of breathing room between them and the Senators, Rangers and Hurricanes who are all right behind the Canadiens.

Who’s Out:

The Canadiens are healthy aside form Davis Drewiske, who is out long term after undergoing shoulder surgery earlier in the season.

The Wild are without Niklas Backstrom (concussion), Keith Ballard (upper body) as well as Mike Rupp (knee) who is in the AHL for conditioning.

I seriously doubt he will answer this but I would love to hear Blair talk a little but about the different approaches/philosophies of the two GMs he has worked under: Doug Risebrough and Chuck Fletcher.

There has been a change of attitude with the Wild from the DR era to the CF era.
