Our #HabsSkate contest winner, Martin Morris, was kind enough to send MHT a thank you letter, and gives us his heartwarming story behind his entry.
5 weeks ago today my 12 year old daughter , Kyla, broke her arm at the Catalogna Soccer Tournament, thus also ending her hockey season.
She asked if we could go to New York City for Spring Break and to see her Montreal Canadiens play against the Islanders. The first road block that we faced was that her cast was due to come off on March 5th, the same day as the game at Nassau County Coliseum. We changed the appointment, but then my wife fell ill, and was scheduled to have gall bladder surgery, hence ending our trip.
So, having a sad little girl,  I entered Montreal Hockey Talk’s contest and posted on twitter with the #HabsSkate hashtag, scrambling for tickets.
Low and behold, we won the contest! To boot, another kind soul also offered her tickets to us.
So, what we did was pay our good fortune to Kyla’s good friend, Cora, who cried when hearing that she would be going with us.
Seeing her eyes all lit up while skating around the Bell Centre is a parent’s dream, plus being able to share in something that we both love was awesome. Kyla zipped around the ice pretending she was on a line like one of her heroes!!
And the guys were great gentleman, those being Colby Armstrong, Ryan White and Peter Budaj.
Thank you again Montreal Hockey Talk for actually making two young girls have a dream come true.
